Sevierville Ward of the Knoxville Tennessee Stake

Sevierville is in the eastern end of Tennessee, very close to the border with North Carolina. According to the Sevierville Ward website, the church has had missionaries in the Sevier County since the 1830s. The earliest reference I could find was to Abraham O Smoot who passed through on February 15th, 1842. It is obvious from Elder Smoot's journal, however, that there were already baptized members in the area.

The Sevierville Branch was first organized on September 6, 1981. David E. Taylor was ordained as the first branch president and James E. Price as his first counselor. Twenty nine members first attended meetings in the Reed Sisters Variety Show building (now demolished) on Chapman Highway.

The ward boundaries encompass all of Sevier County, Tennessee and that portion of Jefferson County,Tennessee South of Interstate 40, West of Green Hill Road, and North of the French Broad River.
