Northcutts Cove 1909

It never fails. Just as I finish a post, someone sees it and says "I have something you want." And so it is with this photo. Dated 1909, this photo of the Northcutts Cove Chapel at Larsen Tennessee, (just north of Altamont, Tennessee) may have been taken at the dedication which was in October of 1909. Part of me thinks I can see Charles A. Callis in the photo. He spoke at the dedication and at the public debate immediately following it. But the images are just too small to tell.

I have had a copy of this photo from the church photo archives in SLC for a couple years, and have wondered if it might have been taken at the dedication. I can identify one person in the photo--my father G. Henry Erickson, who is third from the right (with beard). He worked on the chapel as a missionary.

Larry, Thanks for helping identify one person here. Did your father write about his work on the chapel in a journal?

Bruce,
Dad 's journal doesn't give too much information about what he did on the chapel, but Liahona The Elders Journal for 4Dec1909, pp.383,384 gives the account of the conference/dedication on Oct.24. In this account, Dad is given credit for laying the foundation.
Dad's entry for 26Oct1908 states, "...elders, members and friends met at J. H. Tipton's place and decided to build a church house in Northcuts Cove. It was decided it would take $200.00 cash to build it besides labor and materials that could be raised there. Nearly all was raised at the meeting."
